South Shore Sea Burials Inc. performs attended and unattended scatterings of cremated human and pet remains at sea. Our fleet consists of 3 boats that can accommodate small to large groups. The Lady Josephine is a custom Downeast vessel located in Point Lookout, New York, which can carry up to six passengers. Our larger boats can accommodate up to 100 passengers.

SOUTH SHORE SERVICES

Flags

A Burial Flag, is required for all committal services performed aboard South Shore Sea Burial vessels, with the exception of family members who are not authorized a burial flag.

Pet Scatterings

South Shore Sea Burials offers ash scattering at sea and pet burial at sea services for the Metropolitan New York Area and pet funeral at sea services. Dog ash scattering and cat scattering of ashes at sea are our primary pet ash scattering services.

Unattended Scatterings

The boat will depart from Jones Beach Inlet with the American Flag on display and will go a minimum of three miles offshore where the Cremains (cremated remains) will be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean along with a wreath of flowers. The family will be notified prior to the day of the scattering.

Attended Scatterings

Special requests such as music, lunch or video can be discussed during your consultation with one of our counselors. All dates are subject to change due to weather and sea conditions. South Shore Sea Burials fleet consists of 3 boats that can accommodate small to large groups. The Lady Josephine can carry up to 6 passengers, while our larger boats carry up to 100 passengers. The Family will travel aboard the boat as it carries the Cremains out to sea, and are invited to observe or participate in the Burial at Sea services.

Full Body Remains

South Shore Sea Burials full body burials at sea meet all required USCG safety regulations. Remains arrive to South Shore strapped, weighted and identified from Funeral director.

Biodegradable Sea Urns

Shell Urns are hand-crafted from non-toxic, food-grade recycled paper. Each urn comes with a custom carrying case.
